Rainsville, Alabama, the Crossroads of Sand Mountain. This statement describes Rainsville by its location. But it also seems to say a lot about life. So much of life is lived at the crossroads. Decision making seems to start earlier now than ever before. Even small children have to make so many decisions today. Teenagers wrestle with issues of who they are, who they will date, what events to be a part of, and which not. Seniors in high school grapple with the issues of what college to attend and what career will be pursued. Settling issues of high school does not bring an end to the challenges of life.
Young adults find themselves at the crossroads of life. Whether to marry or not, having children, where to settle the family, the buying of a home, etc…. All of these issues cause us to stand at the crossroads of life. And the older we become, often the greater the challenge.
As you stand at the crossroads of life, God has a plan for you. Scripture tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jer 29:11 NIV) We at Broadway Baptist Church are committed to “Finding Strength in God’s Word For the Challenges of Today.” As you find yourself at life’s crossroads, we want to be of help to you. Our desire is to walk with you in the discovery of God’s hope, plan and future for your life.
Sherri Blevins, Children’s Director

I was raised by loving, Christian parents who carried me to church each week from the time I was born. I became a Christian when I was nine years old. My husband, Arlan and our three children, Lezlie, Patrick, and Tyler, came to Broadway in 2000. God has allowed me to teach elementary aged children in the public schools for the past thirty years. In 2015, He led me to apply for the Children’s Director position here at Broadway, and the church graciously gave me the opportunity to serve in that role. My passion is to make sure each child that comes to our church feels loved by God and the members of our church, and that they know God made them, God loves them, and He wants to be their friend forever.
Kelly Jackson, Nursery Coordinator
Email Kelly
Children are my passion! I have spent the last 26 years teaching small children in the public school system. Before teaching, I worked at the DeKalb Baptist Association Daycare and kept children in their home.
When I decided to retire from teaching, I begin to pray that God would give me a place to serve in his church and allow me to still be able to work with and be around children. The job of nursery coordinator was an answer to these prayers so when I say this position is a “God thing,” it really is. I am excited about the prospects of serving mothers and their children by providing a clean, safe environment where the moms can have their spiritual needs met while we take care of their precious children.
I became a Christian in 1975 at the age of 8 during VBS at Broadway. While a member of Broadway, I have taught Sunday School classes, Discipleship Training Classes, GAs, Acteens, been in the children’s choir, youth choir, adult choir and a member of several ensembles. I participated in Bible Drills as a child and youth. I am on several church committees and am involved in mission groups.
My favorite bible verse is Isaiah 40:31. “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint.”
