Youth Ministry at Broadway is in a
new transition phase. Broadway has just called it's first fulltime
youth minister in Richard Williams. He has served as a youth
minister in a previous church for six years. He comes to Broadway
from Arkansas where he served as associate pastor and minister of
education/outreach for the past three years after graduating from
seminary. His passion is that students become disciples of Christ.
Why is it so important for students to become disciples (followers
of Christ)? Richard say's "Presently, our teenagers live in a
time where world-wide cultures are undergoing dramatic changes.
Today's teenagers are not satisfied with the answer, "Because
the Bible says so". So youth ministers must go deeper and
present the cultures arguments and Christianity's arguments for
truth. This is why developing fully devoted followers of Christ is
so significant. Teenagers want and need truth. They need truth in
order to face this culture. This is my goal as a youth minister.
Currently, our youth ministry focus is discipleship training on
Wednesday evenings. It begins with a meal at 6:00 p.m. in the
church's fellowship hall and a discipleship time from 6:30 - 7:15
p.m. in the newly renovated youth room located on the second floor
of the educational building. Our youth sign team meets and
rehearses in the youth room on Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. There is
also Sunday school at 9:20 a.m. Youth choir and very soon a new
puppet ministry meet on Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m. As we
continue to seek God's direction we will plan and transition
into other youth ministries. We ask you to come and check us out.
